As warm days begin to fade, the weather will soon change. With the ongoing inflation and rising rental crisis, for some it means cold nights and further suffering. That’s why we are so proud that our CEO, Michael Fox, is supporting Vinnies CEO Sleepout.
For Michael, it’s his 8th night sleeping rough, as he’s joined the challenge for eight years running. For others, it’s their everyday life. The money we raise will enable Vinnies to support more people in need this cold winter.
About homelessness in Australia
More than 116,000 people in Australia don’t have a safe and secure place to live, including an increasing number of young people and older women.
The high inflation and rising rental crisis have caused great difficulties and challenges for people in our community. Many face the prospect of falling into homelessness due to job losses and financial insecurity.
Homelessness is a complex issue that cannot be solved with simplistic, short-term solutions. It affects people of all ages and backgrounds who find themselves without a safe and stable place to live; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, as well as recent migrants, are disproportionately affected.
Of those people experiencing homelessness in Australia, around 8,200 ‘sleep rough’ in improvised dwellings, tents or outdoors. But the majority of people facing homelessness are living in cars, on the couches of friends or family, or in overcrowded, temporary or unsuitable accommodation.
There is no single cause of homelessness. A shortage of affordable and available rental housing, domestic and family violence, poverty, unemployment, mental illness, drug and alcohol abuse, financial crisis, exiting state care and/or prison, and economic and social exclusion are all factors that contribute to the current state of homelessness in Australia.

About the Vinnies CEO Sleepout
The Vinnies CEO Sleepout raises money for crisis accommodation, food, healthcare, counselling, education, employment, and support to find a permanent home for thousands of people across the country.
Hundreds of business, government and community leaders sleep out on one of the longest and coldest nights of the year, gaining a small glimpse into the daily reality for tens of thousands of Australians.
Our KMT Partners’ CEO, Michael Fox will be taking part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout 2024! On Thursday 20 June 2024, he will be sleeping outside at Adelaide Oval as part of an eye-opening experience to raise awareness and bring home the realities of homelessness.
To help break the devastating cycle of homelessness, we need your support. When our CEO, Michael joins Vinnies CEO Sleepout, he’ll only be cold for one night. For others, it’s their lifestyle.
We can all make a difference and that’s why we’re seeking your support for Michael’s fundraising and for Vinnies.
